Shepard Fairey hat für Gestalten.tv ein interessantes Interview gegeben in dem er unter anderem über das Obama Icon spricht,  wegen dem er gerade einen Rechtsstreit führt, und seine Ansichten zum Thema Copyright.

Introducing the American artist Shepard Fairey is a bit like explaining whose portrait he famously altered for the “Hope” campaign that was widely used by Barack Obama’s supporters in 2008. Since the mid 1980s he has created outstanding (then: street) art that is strong, iconic and expressive. Shepard Fairey is also a thoughtful, committed, and outspoken activist who revives the artistic virtues of standing up for the freedom of speech and fighting for rational and non-corporate ways of dealing with the issue of copyright. Robag Wruhme’s New Mix-CD “Wuppdeckmischmampflow” + Interview

Gestern ist nach der “Metawuffmischfelge” die neue Mix-CD unseres Jenenser Urgestein Robag Wruhme aka Rolf Oksen aka Die Dub Rolle aka Themroc, der aber eigentlich Gabor Schablitzki mit bürgerlichem Namen heisst, erschienen. Und ich sag euch, die Scheibe kann was! Einiges sogar. Ein Konzept Mix der zwischen Schweinefütterung und Gurkengläsern steht. Man lese die Pressemitteilung und genieße dann den Webstream auf Kompakt, der leider von Nadelrutschen (absichtlich) unterbrochen wird.

In the comforting seclusion of the Spreewald, a vast forest area south of Berlin, somewhere along the famous 250km long Gherkin-Bicyclepath, a man from Thuringia found a home with a pig. This was where he wanted to rest. He just wanted to rest, daydream, eat gherkins and possibly drink a glass of good wine here and then. And so it was. He rented the house, hung out eating gherkins with the pig and let it all hang out. He couldn’t care less about everything else. But then something happened… he was kissed by The Muses and recorded a mix CD. This man is called Gabor Schablitzki, better known as Robag Wruhme, 1/2 Wighnomy Bros, Themroc, Machiste, Rolf Oksen or even as Die Dub Rolle. His discography is as stunning as the list of his DJ appearances. There’s not a soul with the slightest interest in electronic music who has ever danced to a track by this extraordinarily gifted producer. He’s one of the few that truly created his own signature sound. A Robag track is a Robag track is a Robag track. Likewise, as a DJ he hardly manages to hide his genius. This swinging sexiness of his own productions serves as a framework for his otherwise rather eclectic universe in which Thom Yorke and Germany’s most cranky comedian Helge Schneider talk the same language, where con amore jazz buddies with thumping techno. Robag’s trademark is his excessive use of reverb effects. Like black holes they suck in and spit out the most varied influences. It’s a kind of magic. “WUPPDECKMISCHMAMPFLOW” is Robag Wruhme’s latest mix CD and could be considered as an immaculte conception. It was crafted incidentally between feeding the pig and unscrewing gherkin glasses, so to say. Far away from the hectic turmoil of clubs and airports, he began toying around with his favourite tracks and songs. It turned out as a very intimate, wonderful piece of music that Robag needed to share with us. It’s boom time for the bespoke reverb effects. He gingerly interweaves music by Moderat, Four Tet, Ricardo Villalobos, Whomadewho, Danny Norbury, Trentemöller and Tiefschwarz into a greater ONE. “WUPPDECKMISCHMAMPFLOW” became an honest, touching, life-enhancing affair. The perfect co-driver, room mate, old sport, dear abby and pocket hand warmer.

Interview with a Cannibal

VBS.TV hat mit dem Kannibalen von Paris, Issei Sagawa, ein Interview geführt in dem er sehr bildhaft und auf immer noch verstörende Weise den Prozess schildert einen Menschen zu töten und ihn anschließend zu essen. Nichts für schwache Nerven.

On the afternoon of June 13, 1981, a Japanese man named Issei Sagawa walked to the Bois de Boulogne, a park on the outskirts of Paris, carrying two suitcases. The contents of those suitcases, to the lament of a nearby jogger, was the dismembered body of a fellow student – a Dutch woman named Renée Hartevelt, whom Sagawa had shot three days prior and had spent the days since eating various parts of her body. He was soon arrested. According to reports, Issei uttered, “I killed her to eat her flesh,” when they raided his home, whereupon they found bits of Renée still in his fridge. Sagawa was declared insane and unfit for trial and was institutionalized in Paris.

His incarceration was to be short, however, as the French public soon grew weary of their hard-earned francs going to support this evil woman-eater, and Issei was promptly deported. Herein followed a bizarre and seemingly too convenient set of legal loopholes and psychiatric reports that led doctors in Japan declaring Issei “sane, but evil.”

On the August 12, 1986, Sagawa checked himself out of Tokyo’s Matsuzawa Psychiatric hospital, and has been a free man ever since. This is where the real story begins. VBS met up with him to find out what he’s been up to in the 30 years since.

Tom Savini, den eigentlich alle von euch als Schauspieler, FX-Artist und Regisseur kennen müssten, erzählt im Gespräch mit Reddinc. darüber wie es ist mit Tarantino zu arbeiten, wie Robert Rodriguez seinen Körper für El Mariachi hergab und seine Ärzte mit einer Stuhlprobe im Mr. Kartoffelkopf-Dekor überraschte. Außerdem berichtet er das es vermutlich einen zweiten Teil von Machete geben wird. Wie und warum ist aber ein dicker Spoiler den ihr ab Minute 3:08 besser überhören solltet.
