“Phantom of the Floppera” – A Floppy Drive Organ plays Toccata & Fuge

Ich bin da noch nicht ganz durchgestiegen wie der Kerl das macht, aber Youtuber FunToTheHead hat sich eine Orgel aus vier alten Diskettenlaufwerken und irgendeinem Microcontroller gebaut auf der er Bachs Toccata & Fuge in einer LoFi Diskhack Version spielt.

Features two 3 1/2″ drives and two 5 1/4″ drives connected to a PIC18f14k50 microcontroller. It interfaces to any MIDI source via MIDI over USB. Straight MIDI would also be possible with an additional small circuit and some minor firmware changes. This initial version can respond to all 128 MIDI notes, and pitch bends +/- 2 semitones.

As it can produce only four simultaneous notes, and each drive has a different range and tonal characteristics, best results are obtained by arranging compositions by hand. However, it features two modes of operation: in one mode, MIDI channels 1 through 4 are played directly on floppy drives 1 through 4. In the other mode, all 16 MIDI channels are read, and notes are “intelligently” divvied out on a first-come, first-serve basis. “Note stealing” ensures that melody lines sound, but chords are often cut short. One or the other produces acceptable results for many unmodified MIDI files straight out of your favorite media player.

Joyland World – A Chinese Starcraft & World of Warcraft Theme Park

Auch wenn ich mit WoW schon lange abgeschlossen habe, diesen Freizeitpark der gerade irgendwo in China gebaut wird und einen eigenen Starcraft und WoW Themenpark sowie ein elektronisches Museum und eine eGames Sport Arena bieten soll muss ich mir ansehen. Hier ein paar Features die den Jungs von dvice in den Sinn gekommen sind:

• A drop ride called Going Down, where you fall 65 yards without dying
• A shooting gallery where you have to kill eight hapless creatures and harvest their eyeballs for no reason
• Other visitors will continually make fun of what you’re wearing
• Another shooting gallery where you have to kill eight slightly less hapless creatures and harvest their spleens for no reason
• Random mobs of people will get angry and attack you if you get too close to them
• Concession stands only serve seafood stew, ’cause nobody ever wants anything else
• You can only go on the exciting rides after you’ve been on all the boring rides first
• Sometimes, out of nowhere, another visitor will come up and punch you in the gut, laugh, and run off

Interessant ist vor allem das die Bauherren natürlich keinerlei Lizenz von Blizzard erworben haben und das Ding einfach mal so aus dem Boden stampfen. via geekologie

Snow Gojira vs. The Neighborhood

Das Ding steht in Bel Air und sorgt gerade für jede Menge Awesomeness unter den Kids.

After many snowstorms, we made a giant godzilla, “Snowzilla”, in our front yard, complete with lights, a home-made cell tower that he’s about to destroy and of course a lot of fire power that is shooting out of his giant head, thanks to a home-made flame thrower. This ‘Snowzilla’ is over 8 feet tall and attracts a lot of attention in our neighbourhood, the kids love it, and the adults don’t know what to make of it.

Badass LEGO Technic Guns

LEGO ist und bleibt, von K’NEX mal abgesehen, das wohl beste Kreativitätsfördernde Spielzeug was man Kids in die Hände geben kann. Was man allerdings bis zu einem bestimmten Alter vermeiden sollte, wäre ihnen dieses Buch* zu schenken in dem sich die Bauanleitungen für fünf ziemliche übele Lego Knarren finden. WTF: 20-Minute Remix of “Enthiran the Robot”

Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich ja schon mal den Trailer des teuersten und wohl abgefahrensten indischen Film aller Zeitens gebracht – “Enthiran the Robot”.

Irgendjemand hat aus diesem Film einen zwanzig minütigen Action-Remix ins Netz gestellt der eindrucksvoll zeigt, das Enthiran, sich nicht nur bei so ziemlichen allen großen Actionfilmen der letzten 20 Jahre bedient sondern gleich noch eine gehörige Schippe WTF oben drauf legt. Und mit gehörig meine ich gehörig!

Wir reden hier von einem i-Robot Verschnitt mit der Visage von Robin Williams aus der 100 Jahre Mann, der mit Moskitos sprechen kann, seinen Körper magnetisieren, sich selbst in eine Geschoss spukende Kugel oder menschenfressende Kobra aus Cyberklonen verwandeln kann oder … ach ich will nicht alles verraten, sehts euch an! Part 1 fängt noch etwas gemächlich an; Part 2, den es nach dem Klick gibt, haut dann so richtig auf die Kacke. Trash Cinema at its best! Hier noch kurz die Storyline von imdb:

Trailer: “Rubber”

Rubber ist der neue Film von Quentin Dupieux, den meisten wohl eher bekannt als Mr. Oizo, über einen Reifen der plötzlich zum Leben erwacht und mit seinen telephatischen Kräfte Menschen oder andere Gegenstände einfach in die Luft sprengen kann. Mehr brauch ich nicht wissen. Der Film hat mich jetzt schon mit seiner Klasse überzeugt. Punkt. Wer trotzdem mehr wissen möchte, hier die Description:

Pünktlich zum Fest haben Sie nun die komplette Fassung voller Wingsuit Madness veröffentlicht die man am besten in Fullscreen und HD genießt.
